I am Dr. Daniela Schreier, and I have an important message for those considering cosmetic surgery. The decision to embark upon this potentially rewarding journey requires both a physical and psychological component.
The Chinese concept of yin and yang (heaven and earth) describes opposing, yet, complementary, aspects of life and well-being. Choosing cosmetic surgery is a decision to enhance one’s looks and, thereby, elevate one’s self-esteem. The minimally invasive procedures plastic surgeons now use makes the physical aspect of this life decision far easier than it once was. However, in the long run, psychological health must accompany exterior change. Cosmetic surgery and emotional well-being go hand in hand.
An interplay of many factors persuade patients to undergo cosmetic surgery. But whatever the reasons, most need a support system—both personal and professional—to successfully make the transition to their “new self.”
To make that often difficult transition, I offer both psychological and coaching services designed to integrate the new physical outcome with a more self-assured sense of self. My process begins with an initial emotional and personality assessment at the time of the client’s very first visit with the physician. Because it is so important for the patient to experience ongoing emotional support, I remain your “coach” through the entire process—until your “new self” is fully realized.
Building on my clients’ enhanced outer appearance, I work to achieve the integration of both the exterior and interior advancements. One without the other can defeat the whole effort—the yin and the yang must be united. New body image and fresh self-awareness enables us to meet and conquer the challenges that confront us in a new and ever-frenetic age. The ultimate goal is to enhance each client’s life and to make the “new self” experience as healing and rewarding as possible.
You deserve it, and I care. - Dr. Schreier
